Mr. Nichols,Sir, I wanted to tell you I noticed that you have made significant progress in mastering the art of creativity and flexibility required to teach & connect with neurodivergent individuals. This is definitely a time where "Martial arts, not martial science," applies.I'm impressed with your commitment to connecting with my student, XXX, and other students even when it is incredibly frustrating. I can see how much effort you are putting into it and would like to encourage you to continue such awesome work.Lastly, I love how all the leaders are really working towards an inclusive environment at AKNW! It is truly a shining example in our community. Keep up the amazing work everyone!

Anisha's journey with action karate North Wales has been amazing. We have seen her transition into someone who is very disciplined, responsible and continues to work on getting better. While physical fitness and self-safety are direct benefits, more than that, as a person, we have seen her evolve including building self confidence, being health conscious and positive mindset. She continues to balance her time to ensure that her studies are not compromised. A BIG THANKS to the action karate team at North Wales for helping shape up our child as an individual.TWO THUMBS UP

Action Karate North Wales has been a great place for our son. The instructors have led him through each challenge and has built so much mental resilience. It’s such a great thing to incorporate at a young age to really teach confidence, life lessons, mental strength and the importance of exercise. I would definitely recommend!!

Ethan’s Action Karate Journey:I was the first one in my family who wanted to learn karate. I thought it looked cool and would be fun to try. In the beginning, it was a lot of fun. But after a while, it got hard and even boring at times. The classes were after school when I was already tired and just wanted to relax. The classes had me do lots of exercises like push-ups and burpees and doing them in my gi-top was really tiring. I wasn’t really good at doing the exercises, but I learned that the more I did them, the easier it became. I can do a lot more exercies at one time than I could when I started. My form also improved although I still have far to go. Another challenge for me was learning some of the katas. I remember having a really hard time catching the nunchucks during hip hip shoulder. Over time and with a lot of practice, I got it, and it felt good! I got used to the karate classes and learned the importance of self discipline which meant going to class and giving 100% even when I didn't feel like it. This has helped me become a better martial artist, and now I find that I can help my partner during class and help teach them moves that they may have a hard time with. I also like helping my siblings when we practice together at home. I've come a long way since those early classes, and I still think karate is cool and fun!Jordan’s Journey:When I first started learning karate, one of my biggest fears was promotion. I was always nervous to do a move in front of everyone. I was also worried that I might not pass. I learned that even if I didn't pass, it would be ok and that I could work on what I needed to. I was also nervous to lead the katas or do other things we learned in front of other people. I was scared, but I did it anyway. I don't know why I did it anyway, but I did. Over time, I got better at leading in front of people and it became less scary. Every time I do it, I do it better. Since I've been putting in the work, I have become more confident. The hardest thing to learn during karate was the katas. I always had trouble remembering all the steps. Sometimes they were long. Sometimes they were short. I learned over time by practicing. I always felt confident in physical fitness and the combination sets. Being good at these things gave me more confidence to learn. The most important thing I've learned from my karate journey is the importance of having self discipline. It is important to work hard to achieve goals, even when you don't want to work hard.Graysen’s Journey:At the beginning of karate, I thought everything we learned was a little hard. I couldn't do lots of things. I kept working hard and got all my belts and became a red belt. I knew lots of things. The hardest thing was the physical fitness. I had a hard time doing sit ups and push ups. I got better by doing them and practicing them. Now I can do a lot more than when I started. I will keep working on them because they are still a little hard for me. Clinch knee, switch knee, push, back leg round kick was hard at the beginning, but now I'm really good at it because I practiced it. Since starting karate, I have gotten stronger and am able to learn harder moves and combinations. I also feel more confident and have better discipline. I try to give my all when I practice.

We love Action Karate North Wales! Since my son started 3 years ago, he definitely built his confidence and self esteem . The instructors are funny, knowledgeble and bring the best out in the children. Very accommodating and responsive. I can say that is the best investment in my son so far. He has become a better person and learned to never quit, work harder and be polite. I highly recommended!

Action Karate has been a wonderful place for our son Nicholas to learn and grow. Nicholas started in Feb. 2021 at 6 years old in Ninja Sharks and is now going to be testing for his Jr. Black Belt in December at only 9 years old! He likes organized sports, but having an activity that he has to rely on himself has been important to his growth as a child.Mr. Nichols, Ms. Felicia, and Ms. Rochelle have had such an impact on Nicholas. He is attentive and positive in school, gets excellent grades, is a friend to all his classmates. And at karate he has grown to be a leader with the young Ninja Sharks, is now an apprentice on the Jr. Demo team, and is excited to next test for his Jr. Black Belt! And not even at the top of the list, but his physical fitness is incredible as a bonus point! His increase in confidence has been extremely noticeable, a once shy child now goes to tournament and comes home with medals, trophies, and awesome memories! We cannot wait to see where Action Karate takes him in the future! I 100% recommend any family with a child who is not sure what they want to do, to take them and try out Action Karate North Wales. They typically have specials for the kids to try it out a couple weeks before you commit!

Our daughter started Action Karate when she was three years old and three years later she has grown into such an amazing person with Action Karate’s help. They teach confidence which helped transformed her from being shy to helping with classes and leading kata. She has benefitted so much from being at AK with the amazing staff who are super welcoming and willing to help. If you, your child/ren or anyone else you know is interested in starting Karate, this is the best place to get into it!

Aarush's Action Karate Journey:Hi, my name is Aarush, and I am 9 years old. I started learning Taekwondo when I was only 4 years old, and I used to have fun copying my sister and jumping around with her. I loved my uniform and my orange belt. Then one day we stopped learning Taekwondo, at first, I did not understand why, but now I know that we moved very far into a new house. During COVID when we were at home, my sister and I started learning karate with Ms. Felica and Mr. Nichols at Action Karate North Wales online. I was so happy when we got our new black Gi top, white belt, red gloves and square target, and the instructors were fun. In the beginning I really liked the online classes, but then it became more difficult and sometimes it was hard to focus. I remember once I had to retake my stripe test because I forgot my moves. I used to get so frustrated when I did not get enough room during the class as I had to share the space with my sister. Sometimes it was so hard, I wanted to quit. Then COVID kind of got over, and my sister and I would go once a week for outdoor classes. I enjoyed outdoor classes more than online classes. We even got to do board breaking several times. First time I remember I was scared looking at the boards and I thought I would hurt my hand and not be able to break it. But I learnt the right technique to break boards by hand and by kicking the boards in the right way. Now that we go to in-person classes, I even forget how the online classes used to be. Being in black belt leadership, I am also learning a lot of weapons like bo-staff, kama kata, nunchuk, arnis sticks, sword, tonfa and I find that cool.I want to share an incident that happened this year during my summer camp. Some of the bigger kids in my camp would call me names and bully me. Mr. Nichols helped me with the situation and taught me how to deal with bullies. I was able to stand up for myself and talk to my camp leaders about the kids who were bothering me. This was very helpful, and I know how to stand up to a bully and now I help other kids in my bus and school too.I recently participated in Action Karate annual tournament. I was super nervous since it was my first time in front of judges whom I did not know, I think I did good and even won a bronze medal. I would like to participate again and get a gold medal and a trophy next year. I am writing my black belt journey story as I prepare for my Junior Black Belt testing next month and I plan to become a Karate instructor after that.Going to Action Karate, I have built confidence and learnt that winners never quit and quitters never win and I want to be a winner.

Kashish's Action Karate Journey:I started learning martial arts when I was 5 years old. I learnt Taekwondo for almost a year and had tons of fun doing that. Unfortunately we had to move to a different house and I had to quit since we were too far from that martial arts school. I was on my orange belt at that time and loved my Taekwondo dress and all instructors over there. I miss them a lot.Once we got settled into our new house we found that there was a karate camp at nearby YMCA. My parents enrolled me into that and I found it different from Taekwondo but it was still new and exciting. Then COVID struck and we were all locked at home going to virtual school. That is when my parents found Action Karate online classes. My first class was an online trial class with Ms. Felicia and it brought back all the good old memories from my previous schools. My younger brother and I started learning Karate online. We enjoyed taking online classes, it was so much fun. My dog Bruno would also join us while training, that was funny but all my instructors loved him.Even though it was interesting, at times I found it very hard to follow along and concentrate on the class. It was hard to keep my focus and I felt like quitting. That’s when I was motivated by my parents and instructors to join black belt leadership and I got my red Gi top.Soon in person classes started and we got a chance to meet all of our cool instructors. I was already a blue belt when I first came in for an outdoor class at Action Karate. It was even more exciting to join other students and learn karate as a group. We continued doing a mix of in person and online classes.I told my friend about Action karate and she also joined karate classes with us. This motivated me to attend more classes every week. I felt so proud when I got a yellow star for perfect attendance. I also participated in my first tournament this year. It was super scary and I was extremely nervous. I didn’t think I’d do well but I got a bronze medal and that gave me confidence. I couldn’t get any trophy but the judges told me that I missed third place trophy by very few points. I have promised myself that I will participate in next years’ tournament and give my best.Learning martial arts has not been easy and I felt like quitting many times. But this journey has taught me the importance of perseverance. I recently got elected as a student council leader and I am pretty sure much of my confidence and leadership skills are a result of my Action Karate journey. I hope to be an instructor for junior black belt class once I clear my black belt test next month.

Amazing community for our family! We are so grateful we found our AKNW family. In 2021, local Demo Teams came out to do a private outdoor demonstration for our son Kellan who was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. They made him an honorary team captain and gave him his very own nunchucks. He was so proud, and so were we.An experience we will never forget!
